Adventures for weary travelers

Our team has had quite the day/night since I last updated!

Last night around midnight (our time), they should have been finishing their 13 hour flight by landing in Doha, Qatar to catch their final flight into Nepal.  However, after two failed attempts to land in a lightening storm, they were rerouted to an airport in Bahrain (an island in the Persian Gulf).  After landing, they were informed that their plane had been struck by lightening on the wing.  Since the burn mark needed to be inspected, it was necessary that they disembark and get a different plane back to Doha.

Our team had a six-hour wait, but they eventually got a flight back to Doha this morning around 6am (our time).  It was quick and uneventful, for which they are grateful.  Obviously, after all of that, they had long missed their connecting flight to Nepal.  The next flight is not until tomorrow morning at 8am (1am Wheeling time), and that will be their final 5 hour journey into Nepal.  Our team is exhausted, and they are eagerly looking forward to a meal and bed soon.  The airline has graciously provided a hotel room for tonight.

The team thanks you very much for your mighty prayers.  Though their plane was hit by lightening, their journey was only slowed.  Gretchen says, "we are travel weary, but deeply thankful for safe landings and what [was] a non-eventful stop in a very closed, heavily 'burka-ed' country that we didn't plan on visiting!"

Gretchen also tells me that Doha has recieved a considerable amount of rain from these storms, and they are not accustomed to so much rainfall.  Please pray that this weather does not bring any more complications for our team.

Please pray today for:

-rest and refreshment for our weary team

-that the 10 bags of gear and gifts arrive with them in Nepal tomorrow

-that their final flight tomorrow is uneventful

-encouragment for the team, and that they arrive in Nepal ready to do the work God intends

-families (especially children) of our team

-preparations in the leaders and families whom our team will be teaching

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7
