Teachers and Students … First Day of Class

Good Morning FBC Family!!

As we awoke this morning our guys in Nepal were just finishing a full day of teaching. News from them is encouraging...

Yesterday morning in Nepal before the teaching began Darrin wrote:

I am reviewing my lesson now. We had devotions this morning, and we sang praise to the Lord in front of the mountain. Pretty amazing. Easy place to worship....We saw them prepping a goat yesterday to feed the [students]. The [Body] here is so excited.

The students had arrived the day before, some walking as far as 12 hours to get there, others taking a bus. Of the teaching time Darrin reports:

They are very humble and excited. Guys sit on one side, ladies on the other. The ladies who are married wear a covering on their head.

Rick reports:

Today was powerful. The people are so hungry [for teaching]. We had 56 by my count including lots of wives. All sitting with [Book] pencil and notebook.

Our men were teaching in a very unique way...says Darrin:

I [taught] for the very first time in socks [without shoes on]...they don't wear shoes in [meetings].

Who'd have thought?!

The team's prayer requests for today include:

  1. That they would stay warm as they sleep.
  2. Protection from a storm with lightening which is moving in.
  3. Safety in general and from LEECHES in particular.
  4. For clarity while they are teaching.
  5. For comprehension of the students.
  6. Endurance for the ONE interpreter!
  7. Reconciliation for the body.

Tomorrow's (tonight our time) teaching is particularly important. No one from the part of the [body] that split has attended the teaching so far.

Thank you FBC for your constant and steady faithfulness on behalf of our team. They are ever aware of the prayers of their FBC family here and are working hard to share the same privilege of a strong body for the Nepali people there.
