The time has come for our "teenagers" to move into the great big (ger)  world from the smaller quarters where they began. You can see that they are now eating from the top of thier feeders ...

so it's time to move to a spot where they are able to....spread their wings a bit.

Below is the new area where the girls are headed.

While they waited, they sampled a new-to-them food: lentil sprouts. Michele says they weren't awfully sure about them.

Here's a close up of the "grow up pen" which is 8 feet long, 2.5 feet deep, and 5 feet high. It is located in a 10x10 foot chain link run. 

Finally, it was time to venture out into the grass, enticed by treats, of course.

I am amazed at the size of thier feet which are larger than they were in total just a few weeks ago! Michele says they'll soon grow into those feet.

These teenager-ish chicks have moved into a super secure setting...with built in security...

...or maybe not?! (See cat to the top right of the picture above).

And today they are six weeks old! 

At six weeks, they are nearly fully feathered with much less (if any) fuzzy baby look. By this time they can handle the cooler temps. I've read that at about this time, their pecking order gets clearer. Michele will have to fill us in on how all of that happens in the coming weeks.
