The Grass Is Greener? (Growing Chicks Part 7)

Isn't this just how we are?

The grass is greener1 (1200 x 1024 px) (Website)

God our Father hands us all we need and then some, but we are still turning our necks, and sticking them through the fence to see what ELSE might be available to us that He has NOT given.

Not too long ago I read* about 5 ways to encourage contentment in my life. They were so practical and made so much sense that I copied them down and keep them in the rotation of notes I keep posted on my fridge.

These young chicks have inspired me to revisit those 5 encouragements and I'll share them with you too.

  1. Never allow yourself to complain about anything, not even the weather.
  2. Never picture yourself in any other circumstance or someplace else.
  3. Never compare you circumstances with another's.
  4. Never allow yourself to wish this or that had been otherwise.
  5. Never dwell on tomorrow, God is in charge of that, not us.

I know I have difficulty enough with the first one!

I don't think the author is striving to keep us from dreaming, but rather from ...well this:

Let's say with Paul in Philippians 4:11-12,

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
