Anxiety has been on the rise for a while. A study by the National Institutes of Health indicates that anxiety steadily increased in the adult population from 2008 to 2018. In that same time frame, anxiety doubled among eighteen- to twenty-five-year-old young adults. But in the first year of the pandemic, the World Health Organization measured a 25 percent increase in anxiety and depression worldwide.
It has been nearly five years since the pandemic began and the statistics aren’t showing much improvement. It is estimated that over 30 percent of all adults will experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their life. The numbers for teenagers and young adults are even more concerning.
But why make it the topic of our upcoming FBC Women’s Conference? It is our topic because the statistics also show that of all members of the population, women are twice as likely to suffer from anxiety. If a woman herself is not struggling with anxiety, it is likely that someone in her life is and that she is often the core of the support system for that person.
Women are at the center of this issue and we need to be better equipped to deal with anxiety in whatever way it may touch our lives.
We need to know:
- What does Scripture say about anxiety? (Spoiler: LOTS!)
- What can I do if I am suffering from anxiety?
- What do I do if someone I love is suffering from anxiety?
Come join the ladies and the young ladies of FBC and guests as we explore the answers to these and many other questions surrounding The Anxious Heart. Our speakers include Pastor Darrin (two sessions), Sarah Surface (testimony), and professional counselor Amy Wade (two sessions). Additionally there will be a panel, hosted by Mike Howard, which will answer (to the best of their ability) questions submitted by conference attendees. Music for the sessions will be provided by Laura Surface and Andrea Wright.
