| Summary |
Life has a way of raising our stress level. Trouble comes unexpectedly, suffering lingers longer than we hoped, anxiety steals our sleep, and discouragement settles over our hearts. In Psalm 119:49–56, the psalmist is walking through affliction, mocked by the proud, surrounded by trouble, and carrying burdens that weigh heavily on his soul. Yet he does not give way to despair. He turns again and again to the Word of God. This sermon reminds us that God’s Word does far more than calm our emotions. It gives hope in despair, comfort in suffering, joy in the night, and faithfulness to endure until the trial has passed. |
