In the Fullness of Time

images-1

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son…” Galatians 4:4

Again and again the prophets promised the coming of a savior.  The last prophet, Malachi, saw clearly that we were steeped in sin and that only a heaven-sent savior could make us clean. But after the ink had dried on Malachi’s scroll, God went silent.  No more prophecies.  No more messengers commissioned by God to carry His word.  For 400 years God refused to speak.

And for 400 years the people of God waited.  Anxiously they watched and listened.  Their hearts grew hungry for God, for His word, and for His work in their midst.  Generations came and went, but the people kept standing on God’s promise that He would send a savior.

And in the fullness of time, God acted.

God is never in a hurry.  He has a divinetimetable that He follows.  Know this:  Even in the silences, God is working.  Even in the passing of days and months and years, God is faithful to His promises.  When the Savior, Jesus, was born in a small, insignificant stable over 2000 years ago, we can be assured that God’s timing was perfect.

And the same is still true today.  In every believer’s life, God is always faithful to His word and He will always bring it to pass—in the fullness of time!
